Message from the creator of Montezuma's Revenge:
It has been forty years in the making for the completed vision of my 1983 classic Montezuma's Revenge! The publisher reduced my original Atari computer version to fit into a cartridge. It was originally designed to run on a maximized Atari computer with a floppy drive. To do this, they removed the boss, the bat, and reduced many rooms.
You guide Pedro (AKA 'Panama Joe') through the pyramid avoiding enemies like skulls, spiders and bats, while collecting treasures. You will find trampolines that will send Pedro flying and some that invoke mysterious effects on the rooms. Finally, you will have to defeat King Montezuma himself!
This has become a totally new Montezuma Game. Nearly every room has been overhauled with amazing new features and interactive geometry. Please enjoy and share this demo!

Background sound volume has been addressed in v1.12 now available
I feel the same level of of awe and excitement as I did 40 years ago when I first played Montezuma's Revenge. Thank you so much for this incredible gift, Robert!
Thanks!
Hello Robert.
Beautiful game and its mechanics, I am 39 years old and I played the Atari versions, but my question is: can you finish your Atari version, with the old maze or add it in the final version as a gift for those of us who know that unfinished version?
Thanks. No, that original maze was never completed. There were dead ends and boring sections. This game should be considered the successor of that version.
Hi Robert. Will you release a version for the Atari computer?
much depends on the success of the mainstream version. I was planning on releasing an Atari 8-bit version first, but the reality of business got in the way of plans. Hopefully, yes.
You are unlikely to earn much on the Atari version. But you will make the dreams of many users of this computer come true. I have no choice but to wait.
The demo version is great. It differs slightly from the original version, but it is still in this climate. It's a pity that there is no melody from the beginning of the game and the inscription UTOPIA in the scoreboard. I didn't notice the bird either. The Indian was quite difficult to pass, but I succeeded. I am satisfied. I'm waiting for the full version. If not Atari, then at least on Nintendo Switch. I already have the first one. Thanks for making childhood dreams come true.
Great demo. I can't wait for full version. :)
Thanks, Bart
You're welcome.
Nice! What's the difference with the previous Montezuma's Revenge?
It's nearly a totally new game with the familiar characters! There are new exploding pots, trampolines, elevators, activation switches, BOSS challenges, 97% all new rooms and more!
Awesome!
thanks, reposted.
Hi Robert. Will you release a version for the Atari computer?
Is the beeping in the background intentional - I hope not :(
The update will have it at lower volume. It's the sound effect from the 1983 version. It's an option in the full release.
